ICYMI: BATTLEFIELD 2042 Is Out Now On Xbox Game Pass

To say Battlefield 2042 was a divisive title is putting it very lightly. With a “mostly negative” review poll on Steam, the game needs some love from it’s developers to bring players back. The game launched with a new approach to classes that sounded better on paper than actual implementation, the ability to create whatever loadout you want. Unfortunately, this concept ended up being the complete opposite of what Battlefield is all about, team play. EA has heard the fans loud and clear and has been releasing band-aid fixes along the way. Just in time for its one-year anniversary, EA has announced that Battlefield 2042 is now available on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass.

DICE has also recently revealed its plans for a Season 3, showcasing some cool maps and gear. But the saving grace to this title is not in the form of additional content, but rather a complete rendition of the class system. That's right, it is confirmed that the class system re-work will be launching very soon. This will definitely help the game feel more like an actual Battlefield title and less like a one-man-army GTA online skirmish.

While we wait for the class re-work update to arrive in the early part of 2023, we still have the best reason to keep playing the game now. Portal mode is truly the highlight of Battlefield 2042 and other FPS games should take note (looking at you, Call of Duty!). The freedom to play any Battlefield era on a multitude of maps with various weapons from a history of titles in the updated game engine is fantastic. Honestly, EA should just make a Battlefield: Portal game and call it a day.

Battlefield 2042 is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. It is also available via Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and EA Play.
