Square Enix has released an interesting new live-action game! The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is a live-action mystery game that is aiming to be a unique and immersive story trying to find the truth to figure out who did it. They’ve focused on visual storytelling and set a high bar with great cinematography to provide an exciting live-action experience.
The game’s director worked on Metal Gear Solid V while it is being produced by Junichi Ehara of NieR: Automata and Babylon Falls and the cinematography director is Yasuhito Tachibana, known for reflex titles such as The Naked Director. This lineup of talent is expecting to bring something original to the table.
Over the last Century, the Shijima family has had some unexplained deaths! Players will be in control of mystery writer Haruka Kagami and will use their skills of deduction as they seek the truth behind four murders that have taken place in the family home over the past one hundred years. Become immersed in a truly authentic traditional Japanese story. Spend time in different eras of Japan uncovering clues across all eras to discover the Shijima secrets and solve the mystery. The in-game videos have been filmed in live-action, so paying attention to subtle facial expressions is key.
The Centennial Case: A Shijima story is out now for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
