Negative Atmosphere is a new IP being developed by Sun Scorched Studios, a small 23-person team which consists of individuals from all around the world. The game has been in development for 5 months using Unreal Engine. While the game takes inspiration from many sci-fi and non sci-fi horror games, the most obvious inspiration (if you didn’t catch the name similarities) comes from the Dead Space franchise. From the gameplay demo that was shared with us 2 weeks ago, it appears very promising. You can watch the demo below.
Negative Atmosphere also share more similarities than just the title such as gameplay, setting, theme, etc. You play as Samuel Edwards, a 49-year-old ex-combat medic that is trapped aboard a long-range cargo ship called the TRH Rusanov, as a mysterious sickness spreads across the ship mutating all of the robots and crewmembers into bloodthirsty creatures that will kill everything in their path. Your goal is to escape whilst fighting through former crew mates and sentient A.I, as well as dodging the environmental hazards that the Rusanov throws at you, all while your mental state deteriorates causing your character to hallucinate.
Negative Atmosphere is currently being funded with the use of Patreon. Once the game has reached the point where the devs are comfortable making a one hour long demo, the demo will be released for free, followed by a Kickstarter campaign. The game has no set in stone release date, as it is in pre-alpha, but the demo is expected to come out sometime in 2019 on PC, Mac and Linux. Depending on funding there is a possibility for console release as well. If you want to help fund the game, you can visit their Patreon. If you wish to discuss the project with the devs or give ideas, you can join the official Reddit and Discord. For more info and gameplay of the project you can go to their official YouTube Channel and Website.
