Nintendo Switch Online Is Launching Next Week

Nintendo recently announced that the online service for the Nintendo Switch is coming alongside a system update, which is scheduled to arrive on September 18th. Update 6.0.0, will also tie a Nintendo Account to the console permanently.

The Switch Online service will also be available together with the update. Nintendo will be offering a 7-day free trial of the subscription before players would have to pay a monthly fee to avail of the service. More details on the upcoming subscription service will be revealed at the rescheduled 35-minute Nintendo Direct that will also showcase forthcoming Switch and 3DS titles.

Nintendo’s subscription service will include three options to purchase such as a monthly plan that would cost $3.99, a 3-month subscription for $7.99, and a 12-month subscription for $19.99. The online subscription would also feature cloud saves on select games, and will include access to 20 classic NES games such as The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario Bros.

Initially, the Nintendo Direct presentation was scheduled to broadcast last week but has been delayed due to the earthquake that struck Hokkaido, Japan.
