PlayStation’s premier fighting series will see its next installment with Tekken 8, which will be available on next-gen consoles and PC.
The chronicles of the Mishima family take center stage once more, having been a mainstay of the franchise since the very beginning. However, with the death of Grandad Heihachi in the last game, the focus is now on Kazuya and Jin, with the latter attempting to thwart the former’s plans for world domination.
The footage from Sony’s State of Play showcase features the pair looking more anabolic than ever, opening with a cutscene that transitions seamlessly into the gameplay. The usual Tekken fighting experience looks to be present and correct, and both characters seem to have their traditional move sets intact.
The whole trailer takes place in a rain-drenched environment, which is always a good trick to show off the graphical fidelity of your hardware by focusing on those shiny wet surfaces; it is also built from the ground up in the new Unreal Engine 5 which also helps.
Tekken 8 will be developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. There is no word yet on the release date.
