As mentioned in our Best of GDC 2025 spotlight, BOXED was one of the best surprises of the show for me. While normally I don’t get too excited about trading card games and especially not about loot boxes, I now what a totally different perspective on one of the best and most exciting creations I’ve recently. To say the site design, interactions, and just pure mood is stellar, would be a massive understatement.
I never thought that opening boxes would be such a rush but oh boy, what a thrill it is. What this team has accomplished here of bridging the gap between the digital and physical world of collecting is truly astonishing.
