The Latest WEIRD WEST Trailer Digs Into The Game’s Immersive Systems

Weird West received a new trailer this week showing of the many ways players can interact with the game’s world. The immersive quality of Weird West’s world is the highlight of the video, digging into how the environment and other characters react to the player’s presence and action.

One of the example’s shown involved the player character flipping an upside-down barrel to collect rainwater from a coming storm. This rainwater can then be drank for some much-need healing. Another example the trailer highlighted saw the player character shooting a water tower to douse the flames on their body, then hitting that water with electricity to shock a group of nearby enemies.

Developer Wolfeye Studios designed the game with this level of creativity intentionally, and the sheer variety of interactions means that there are some strategies even the developers haven’t foreseen. Weir West is Wolfeye Studios debut game, but the leadership at the fully remote studio are veterans who worked on the Dishonored and Prey titles at Arkane Studios.

Weird West is an immersive, action-adventure RPG with a branching, fantasy story set in a dark reimagining of the American Wild West. The game features five different protagonists who each have their own reasons for heading out West, and the decisions players make will define how these characters navigate the world and how their stories end.

Weird West launches on January 11th, 2022, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. It will also launch on the same day into Xbox Game Pass for all subscribers.
