Lofree EDGE Ultra Low-Profile Mechanical Keyboard

There’s no doubt that There is an endless sea of gaming keyboards to test out and review. heck, I’ve reviewed about 20 in the last couple of years alone. But this time, I decided to turn my attention to something a bit more unusual. Coming in hot off of a successful Kickstarter campaign, Lofree has released the EDGE Ultra Low-Profile Mechanical Keyboard. And after having spent some time with it surfing the web and writing some content with it. I’m ready to write its own review with it.

Features and Quality

Lofree wastes no time in allowing consumers from connecting the EDGE to their device and get it going. Using its USB-C cable, you simply connect the cable and go. There’s no engine to download for updates nor any fancy additional features that’ll do anything extraordinary, but that’s exactly one thing I love about the EDGE. It’s a headache-free, no-frills experience where the keyboard itself is the star of the show, and not the tricks it can do. Though if you need macros, this has you covered.

The EDGE is an extremely nimble yet ruggedly sturdy product that is quite perfect to toss into your backpack if that laptop keypad ain’t doing it for ya. Luckily, this keyboard also has Bluetooth connectivity as well, making it a breeze to connect it to your phone or tablet in a pinch. This is certainly the keyboard for you if you want something that’s small but gets the job done in a comfortable manner. And its stand that’s made from recycled keybvoad parts is a nice addition in order to display the keyboard itself, or your mobile device.

Feedback

When it comes to any constructive critiscm I can give the EDGE, it’s the fact that the key switches are just a bit sluggish, at least to me. Pushing the keys down is just fine on most of them, but the spring back up just isn’t the quickest draw in the west. The Spacebar is by far the worst offender here, with its push and spring back up a crawl to the finishline. Something else I would’ve loved to have seen would be backlit keycaps. While the EDGE offers backlighting, there isn’t much good to it if you can’t use the keyboard in complete darkness.

Conclusion

Though the are some qualms that I have with the EDGE, it’s a really good keyboard overall. Offering a nice form-factor and build quality that is sure to last you through commuting or extended trips. It’s a dependable keyboard that’s as slick and stylish as they come. I can only hope Lofree tries its hand at a mouse to pair with the EDGE.
