Nintendo just announced that Pokémon Stadium for the N64 is coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass! Players will be able to play from their Switch starting April 12th. Pokémon Stadium was originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000 and featured local multiplayer with up to 4 players. We can see at the end of the trailer that multiplayer will be accessible with up to 4 players via Nintendo Switch Online.
The game featured the original 151 Pokémon from the original Red, Blue, and Yellow versions of the classic Gameboy games. It was a big deal seeing Pokémon in a home gaming console since they were always only playable on Gameboys. Players will be able to take part in the nine different minigames with 3 other friends. The original version of the game allowed players to transfer their Pokémon from their Gameboy games to their Pokémon Stadium save file. But Nintendo has put out the disclaimer that won’t be possible in this emulated version.
Pokémon Stadium will be available on the Nintendo Switch for free for all players subscribed to NSO + Expansion Pack on April 12th.
