Despite the unfavorable response from the community on launch, EA and DICE are continuing to work on improving Battlefield 2042 for the ongoing, and hopefully returning, player base. With the game reaching Season 3 just a few months ago and the developers still hosting events, they are putting everything they have to make the game what it always could have been.
This week, they will get update 3.2 which will bring the featured updates - the Return to the Class System as well as the rework of the launch map Breakaway. Let’s take a look at what these mean exactly.
In response to our players feeling like they’d lost the feeling of class identity and a more defined sense of role on the battlefield, we are bringing the Return to the Class System. This means that our Specialists will be assigned to one of four classic and familiar classes - Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer - redefining the gear and equipment they’ll have access to, to shape a more structured and understandable role that players are used to.
Through the seasonal updates, they have been bringing updated versions of their launch maps to address player feedback. With 3.2, comes a huge overhaul for Breakaway. Players will experience better cover and improved pathing between the flags, with each flag receiving careful attention to ensure they can better focus their attack and defense when playing the objective. For instance, the oil rig is closer to action which in turn brings a more focused playspace and allows for more dynamic firefights.
Battlefield 2042 is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. It is also available via Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and EA Play. Will update 3.2 be the changes you needed to head back on to the battlefield?
