It’s no secret that these days are full of controversial opinions and actions being taken for a cause. The face and leading group behind the movement that is taking place are Black Lives Matter. With so many people and countries standing with them, we are starting to see industries taking a stand one way or another. From televised moments of silence to a day dedicated to the discussion on what can be done differently (The Show Must Be Paused), there are many ways people are doing what they can to show their support.
Indie game developers have stepped up using the Itch.io website platform as they came together to provide the largest game bundle ever, featuring over 740 games, and having a total value of $3,400 available to anybody willing to donate at least $5. Basically, they created this bundle called “Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality” that is set up with a pay-what-you-want price tag, and the minimum amount acceptable is $5. The goal of this bundle is to raise $2 million to be split 50/50 with NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Community Bail Fund. They have already reached $1.5 million and there is still just over a week remaining.
So, if you are looking for a way to support the Black Lives Matter movement going on today, here’s a way you can donate to the cause with whatever you have to offer. 100% of the proceeds are going to the two charities mentioned and you will get more than 740 games by 564 different creators. Just make sure you are logged in to Itch.io when you purchase the bundle as there will be no Steam keys given out and all games will have to be directly downloaded from the site once purchased.
