Eric Barone, AKA ConcernedApe, the sole creator and developer of the hit indie farming simulator, Stardew Valley, has announced indirectly through Twitter that he is working on a new secret game, two years after the release of Stardew Valley.
Barone’s announcement via Twitter stated that he is excited with the direction of ConcernedApe and promises fans that “there’s lots to look forward to.”
As of now, the exact details of this new secret game is still unknown. However, Barone did reveal tiny bits of information on this new venture via Reddit last December. In this thread, Barone said that the new game will be set in the same planet as Stardew Valley, but implied that it will not serve as a sequel or any form of an expansion of that game.
Furthermore, he said that in terms of the game development process, he is taking a similar approach as he did in Stardew Valley which is to “take a style of game that was never fully realized (or that changed trajectories, leaving unexplored possibilities), and carry on the tradition in my own weird way.”
Given the fact that Barone’s new project is set in the same universe as Stardew Valley, and that he is taking a similar approach to it, hopefully, it will live up to the success of the popular farming simulator game. For the meantime, fans can still busy themselves by tending to their virtual farm.
