THE LAST OF US PART I Remake Gets Officially Announced With A Release Date

Naughty Dog and PlayStation have finally lifted the veil on the heavily rumored The Last of Us remake with a brand new surprise release trailer. Coming to PlayStation 5 and eventually on PC, The Last of Us Part I will be released this September 2 with a load of upgraded features for new and returning fans alike.

The promise of modernized gameplay, controls, visuals, and accessibility options led the headlines for this announcement. Players can expect to see many of the improved gameplay elements that made The Last of Us Part II a much more engaging experience in regards to its combat and exploration.

The trailer showcases the improvements made from The Last of Us Remastered for PlayStation 4 and reveals heavy detail with improved character models, lighting, and textures. Although the game looks visually better, there has been no shimmer of light as far as details for what kind of changes and improvements we can expect in the core gameplay.

For a game that was released 9 years ago, with a remastered version released just one year after that, it would seem a remake is a bit early. However, fans such as myself are excited to see what Naughty Dog Can bring to the table with their very first remake project. It is a bit disappointing that the multiplayer aspect is missing and makes the game feel un-wholesome. Now, Naughty Dog is working on the standalone multiplayer for The Last of Us, but giving us the classic factions with the current-gen improvements would have really knocked this one out of the park. I suppose time will tell as we get closer to launch if this remake will be worthwhile.

The Last of Us Part I is set to launch on PlayStation 5 on September 2, 2022. It is also in development for PC with an unknown release date at this time.
