Update 5/4: The Kickstarter campaign is now live! Go check it out here.
The Kickstarter start date for the N64 multi-purpose enclosure, 64 Mate has finally been set for May 4, 2020! The campaign will last exactly 1 month ending on June 4, 2020. The funding goal for the 64Mate is set at $60,000 AUD or rather $38,500 in USD. To get a single 64Mate the backing price will be set at $77 AUD or ~$50 USD. Upon successful funding, the team is hoping to get the 64Mate shipped out to backers between September-October 2020.
There will be 2 versions of the 64Mate available during the campaign.
64Mate Standard Enclosure Edition:
This set includes a 64Mate Standard Enclosure Edition with transparent front panel and internal storage space to suit devices such as video upscalers, capture cards and more. The front panel accomodates custom artwork printed onto paper. A preformed windowed backing allows for devices with LCD panels (such as an OSSC) to be visible through the front panel. The base is machined perforated metal with slotted returns for ventilation and custom elevation of stored items.
64Mate Cart Caddy Edition:
This set includes a 64Mate Cart Caddy Edition with open front window and internal cart slots to accomodate up to 8 individual N64 game carts. The base is machined perforated metal with slotted returns for ventilation and with the cartridge holder in place there is still storage space in the rear to accomodate small devices such as a RetroTINK2X.
Optional stretch goals have also been announced!
Stretch Goals:
The top plate for the 64Mate would require additional funding for tooling, it's very optional in usage but is displayed in photos for presentation purposes. Additional funding could be used to refine and tool the backplate model we have already completed for inclusion. More info on stretch goals to be announced!!
For die-hard N64 fans, the 64 Mate will be an ideal way to store carts or video upscaling equipment for easy on the go game nights. Even while at home, the ability to house a mass of av cables and an upscaler in a neat and compact way is very appealing. While such devices are very niche, I love to see the passion of those who create them! The attention given to matching the N64’s aesthetics is also very apparent and it looks awesome! If you love the N64 and its community, be sure to give the 64Mate a look when the campaign starts in just a few short days. I can’t wait to start seeing all of your N64 tower of power pics!
