It’s been almost a full month since the full release of Raji: An Ancient Epic on consoles and PC platforms and the indie narrative has done well. It’s a finalist for the Indie X 2020 showcase, which celebrates indie developers and their games. And it’s been positively received on Steam from players and from critics as well.
The journey has been a remarkable one for the game and its developer, Nodding Head Games. The project originally tried to launch on Kickstarter in 2017, but it was canceled prior to the end of the campaign when it was clear it wouldn’t successfully reach its funding goal. That could have been the end of Raji, but the story continued. It persisted! Vice has a really insightful interview with some of the developers that explores the arc of the game’s history.
What matters, though, is that it’s here and it’s a beautifully crafted game with a compelling story.
I’ll be diving into this game soon, so I’ll be able to share how well the team pulled together to create this action-adventure game set in ancient India. I’m looking forward to it.
