Immersion is key with this successfully kickstarted, hot on the scene Afrofantasy MMORPG. The Wagadu Chronicles is bringing a brand new era of MMORPG to players’ PCs in a big way. With its gameplay roots residing in the massive surge of popularity of tabletop role-playing games, The Wagadu Chronicles gives players the freedom to truly become whoever they want from a swashbuckling fisher or a wizard-smith-farmer and participate in an ever-changing world.
Inspired by a multitude of African cultures and people, this new breed of MMO plans to bring an answer to the much-needed diversity in the highly Euro/Asian fantasy-based genre. Developer Twin Drums launched the Kickstarter campaign for The Wagadu Chronicles back in 2019 and are now set for a 2023 launch on PC.
With roleplaying at the heart of this MMORPG, NPCs are made up of players themselves creating a living and breathing world of players that coexist within the game's world. Having taken a ‘Tolkien’ approach to designing the world and its lore, the developers at Twin Drums have sampled a number of cultures of the African continent to create a rich and full world of exciting Afrofantasy goodness.
