Twilight Imperium 4th Edition is one of the best board games out there. Period.
The latest edition of the game streamlined a lot of the mechanics, removed unnecessary details and rules, and created the best version of a strategy classic that originally released more than 20 years ago.
And now, Fantasy Flight Games has announced Prophecy of Kings, a new expansion that brings a lot to the table!
Here’s how the universe has changed:
The lost planet of Ixth, fabled paradise of a million dreamers, promised land of a thousand faiths, a legend as old as the Lazax, has been found. Unfortunately, the old tales of Ixth are nothing more than lies, and when an exploratory expedition ventures through a sealed wormhole in Creuss space, they discover a tomb-city outside the galaxy. This city is a prison, constructed for one purpose: to imprison the Mahact Gene-Sorcerers, tyrannical kings of the galaxy before the Lazax ever rose to power. And now that they have reawakened, no power can compel the Mahact to stop their burgeoning conquest.
I’ll be honest. For people that aren’t familiar with Twilight Imperium, that might sound like gibberish.
But what it means is a lot of new content—seven factions, system and planet tiles, components, and more gameplay mechanics. Not to mention an expanded player maximum of eight with the added player components.
There are leader cards, faction mechs, exploration decks, action cards, agenda cards, and a lot more.
I could go on, but the point is Prophecy of Kings is a pretty big expansion. It should really open up the game for fans of Twilight Imperium. You can pre-order it now, to be ready when it releases in the fourth quarter of 2020.
