One research firm is predicting BIG sales from the Nintendo Switch. In fact, if DFC Intelligence'sprediction happens to be true, the Nintendo Switch would out sell the Wii-U 3 times over. GamesIndustry writes that head of DFC Intelligence, David Cole, admits his numbers are "conservative"...
"The Switch is a compelling piece of hardware that could potentially reach a much larger addressable market. However given the limited software and Nintendo's poor recent track record of introducing new products we have tempered our forecasts to be conservative."
40 million units falls short of the current lifetime sales of the Nintendo 3DS, and is currently the number of lifetime sales for the PS4. If the number came true it would set the Nintendo Switch as the 3rd most successful console of all time (behind Wii and NES) and 6th highest selling Nintendo hardware if you include the handhelds.
Personally, I defintely think it's possible, but we're really going to have to see how Nintendo responds to the overwhelming demand we've seen for the console thus far. If Nintendo again underproduces consoles at launch, they may kill momentum like they did with the NES Classic. Even so, I think the Nintendo Switch is enough to bring back gamers who passed on the Wii-U, and those who are wanting a new experience in gaming. I'm sure you have a different opinion so feel free to sound off below...
