After a 24-hour live stream on Twitch, developer Bethesda Softworks revealed the upcoming game in the Fallout universe called Fallout 76. Any Fallout fan will be familiar with the term Vault 76 as this has been previously mentioned but never seen in other Fallout Games. The developer has been teasing the upcoming game since yesterday when they posted a tweet with an image saying “Please Stand By.”
Currently, official details on the upcoming game are still slim. Not much is known about what Bethesda plans to do with Fallout 76, it's not even clear on which of their studios will be taking point with the development of the game. However, one thing we do know is that the game is already available for pre-order and the standard edition is priced at $59.99. The game is scheduled to release for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
However, several sources who spoke anonymously with Kotaku reported that Fallout 76 is an online survival RPG, which is somewhat similar to games like DayZ or Rust. Kotaku said that Fallout 76 will still retain the quest system and will even have a story, but new elements such as base building and “survival-based multiplayer mechanics” will also be part of the game. The sources claimed that Fallout 76’s gameplay is “rapidly changing.”
As of today, Bethesda has not made any comments on the claims by these anonymous sources. However, the developer promised that more details on Fallout 76 will be revealed at Bethesda’s E3 showcase, which will happen on June 10.
