Healthy Geeks: I Tested BetterMe's Space-Saving Workout Lineup, and I’m Ready to Stay Fit Between Gaming Sessions

If you spend a lot of time gaming, you’ve probably been doing a great job at keeping your characters fit and ready for action. But it’s always important to take care of yourself, too. After spending a little time with some of BetterMe’s newest space-saving products, I’m convinced they provide some of the best options for workout equipment that can be kept in your gaming space for some quick and easy sessions. Here are just a few I think you shouldn’t sleep on if you’re looking to stay healthy without heading to a gym.

Home Gym Bench + Adjustable Home Weight Set

A good bench is an important component of any workout setup in which weight-lifting is involved. The BetterMe Home Gym Bench is compact enough to fit in most rooms while providing seven total backrest positions to facilitate a wide number of workout types. It’s also surprisingly sturdy and comfortable for a lightweight, affordable bench — and it can be easily folded and stored in tight spaces.

I dig the included resistance band set that connects to the bench for efficient training exercises, but it’s likely not enough for those looking to really push up gains. For that, it’s a good idea to pair the bench with the BetterMe Adjustable Home Weight Set.

The Adjustable Home Weight Set combines dumbbells, a barbell, and a kettlebell into a single swappable system. It supports up to 44lbs of weight each, which is perfect for most folks just looking to casually push themselves without breaking any lifting records. And as with the bench, everything here feels perfectly sturdy, and swapping between styles is a cinch.

Mini Stepper

If you’re looking to kill two birds with one stone, the BetterMe Mini Stepper is great for combining cardio and resistance training. This stair stepper lets you get in steps while also using resistance bands to work your arms and shoulders.

The hydraulic system can be set to different resistances to target specific areas (glutes, core, etc), and the small LCD screen tracks your steps, calories, and time spent working out. And perhaps best of all, the Mini Stepper is very compact and easily stored under a desk or in other tight spaces to help keep your floor clean when not in use.

The Mini Stepper supported my 220lbs fine (which happens to be its listed max weight), but there’s no denying that its modest size definitely feels best suited to smaller-frame folks. Even so, it’s a great compact option for any home gym where saving space is a primary goal.

AB Machine

Doing crunches sucks (and hurts my back). That’s where the BetterMe AB Machine really shines. Designed to target your core, this uniquely shaped contraption provides an intense workout that has left me plenty sore (in a good way) without causing me back pain. And with five height settings, you can push yourself to whatever degree of “hurts so good” works for your fitness goals and capacity.

The AB Machine also works great for glutes, shoulders, and arms, which means it could theoretically serve as an all-in-one option for anyone who doesn’t have space for multiple pieces of equipment in their space. I’d recommend checking out the website to get a look at all the ways it can be used, as it’s actually rather impressive just how much you can get out of this one tool.

As with everything else on this list, the AB Machine is also stored out of the way with its effortless folding capabilities, letting you free up space for whatever else you’re looking to set up.
