In case the hype was not already high enough for tomorrow’s showcase, Bungie dropped a video this morning on their social media platforms with a brief tease of what we can expect tomorrow. Brief might be an understatement, as the video clocks in at 15 seconds and about the last five seconds of that time is mostly just text over an unmoving body.
The trailer shows what we can only assume is The Witch Queen herself, Savathun, strutting down a submerged walkway. Bodies of her subjects, a chitinous race known as the Hive, can be seen floating in pools of liquid to either side. As she enters the water Savathun speaks in a high, dissonant voice: “Truth (long dramatic pause) is a funny thing.”
We’re then reminded that we have to wait another 24 hours before any more information will be revealed. The Witch Queen was first announced in June of 2020 when Bungie unveiled their plans for three new expansions to their MMO shooter. Initially slated to launch this year, The Witch Queen was delayed into early 2022 as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on their production schedule.
While The Witch Queen might still be several months away, tomorrow’s showcase will also include details on the new season of content for Destiny 2, Season of the Lost, which coincidentally also starts at 1PM EST tomorrow afternoon. The Destiny 2 Showcase starts tomorrow at 12PM EST and will be available to watch on Twitch either through Bungie’s official channel or the channels of Destiny content creators who will be co-streaming the event.
