For Nintendo Switch 2 owners, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment provides a great way to experience the iconic series in a new way. With upgraded graphics and hack-and-slash gameplay, there’s a lot on display with the title that feel great on the new console.
However, all of the previous titles, like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Tears of the Kingdom, are all on the Nintendo Switch. Some players may want to get in on the action without a Nintendo Switch 2. So is it possible to play Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on the original Nintendo Switch? We have the answer to that in this article!
Is Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on Nintendo Switch?
Unfortunately, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is not on Nintendo Switch. The title is only available on Nintendo Switch 2. The closest game experiences you can get on the Nintendo Switch are Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. However, there is one way you can play, which we’ve detailed below.
Can you play Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on Nintendo Switch?
While not available for purchase, you can actually play Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on the Nintendo Switch via GameShare. With a Nintendo Switch Online membership, a friend with a Nintendo Switch 2 can allow you to play any multiplayer game on your Switch — or, in this case, a regular Switch. Note, however, that you would have to be playing with them, so it doesn’t allow you to play the game single-player. However, you do get your own screen instead of a split screen, which is a nice touch.
Using the method above is the only way to play Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on Nintendo Switch. And hey, the game still looks pretty good on the Nintendo Switch — albeit not as good as the Switch 2.
