If you were a kid in the 90’s and your parents bought you Chex cereal, chances are you got a free copy of Chex Quest! Chex Quest was a hilarious DOOM clone that removed the signature gore and guns and replaced them with odd cereal eating aliens you would need to take out with a spoon. What did remain were interesting levels built around that classic DOOM formula. Being only 10 in 1996, I wasn’t allowed to own DOOM so Chex Quest was a great alternative to get that style of gameplay. It also came with like 50 free hours of AOL so I was a pretty happy child!
Anyways, it was announced a while back that the game was getting remastered for the modern era complete with new graphics. There is even a physical version in the works thanks to Limited Run Games that comes complete with a cereal box! No release date for the game was announced though so who knew when it would be released. Well, it turns out that day is today. Yes, Chex Quest HD just stealth launched on Steam today for the whopping price of free! This new version of the game includes new characters to allow for split-screen co-op and multiplayer so grab your friends and prepare to spoon in the most violent way possible!
If you would like to see more about Chex Quest HD be sure to check out the new trailer above to see it in all of its glory! I also love that they bag on themselves for the insane amount of doors featured in the game. What do you think about the return of Chex Quest?
