Graffiti Games and Team Ugly have announced the release date for Ugly, a dark puzzle platformer where taking a long look in the mirror might be the key to success.
Launching September 14th, the game is the story of a troubled nobleman confronting his past, and some ugly truths about himself. Players navigate through the depths of the character's mind, and face some of the monsters deep inside.
Navigating this mindscape isn't so straightforward though. Players will need to master the use of the reflection, a ghostly doppelganger in the mirror that moves the same way as the character does, and can be swapped with its real counterpart. The reflection can be used to reach places that could not be accessed otherwise.
There may be multiple ways to solve a puzzle, so a good reason to keep on trying. It's not all cerebral puzzling though, some horrifying bosses lurk in the dark corners, rendered in impressive 2D animation. The levels are full of secrets, and it will most likely take more than one playthrough to see all that the game has to offer.
Ugly will be released on September 14th, for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
