Yesterday marked the release of the third piece of DLC for Motion Twin and Evil Empire’s 2018 rogue-lite Metroidvania title, Dead Cells. Titled Dead Cells: The Queen and the Sea, the DLC serves as the epic conclusion to the story introduced by the first of the three DLCs. This new expansion offers formidable enemies and a new boss along with new challenges and biomes.

Where the game’s first bit of DLC, The Bad Seed and Fatal Falls started the Beheaded’s next journey to find a way off of the island, this last chapter will tie up the new storyline in a big way. Players will journey through The Infested Shipwreck and The Lighthouse; two distinct biomes that offer aspects brand new to Dead Cells. Ever want to fend off enemies while climbing up as fast as you can whilst flames rise below you? You will!

Of course, besides the biomes, there’s the epic new boss! Aptly called, The Queen, she is touted as being unlike any boss we’ve seen so far. She adapts to her enemy’s tactics depending on their strategy and uses their own tricks against them. She can even slice your screen into pieces. Think about that.

To help you along your quest off of the island, you’ll also find a new evolving pet. The Leghugger, is the new, evolving, summonable creature that feasts on your enemies as it attacks and eventually matures into its adult form.

You’ll also come across new weapons in this expansion as well as a new Hand Hook to toss enemies around with. Aside from that, players can expect hidden treasure, side quests, new outfits, and even an entirely new ending as well!
