This year’s, The Game Awards, was plentiful on big reveals, so you can bet that the iconic and current Dune franchise had to make a splash of course! Funcom and Shiro Games have come together to create an RTS game set in the universe called, Dune: Spice Wars which also implements 4X elements as well. The game takes place on the planet of spice itself, Arrakis, and features several factions including House Atreides and House Harkonnen.
The game gives you the tools to create your own story as well as lead your faction to victory. Using tools, weapons, and characters directly from the source material, you’ll really feel like part of the universe. But just like in the books and film, you’ll have to scan the landscape and watch out for the dreaded sandworms that surf the dunes.
The title is set to go into Early Access of Steam in 2022 and will be updated and expanded as it gears up for full release. Features that’ll be implemented as time goes on include new content, improved balance, and new game modes, to name a few.
There is currently no release date window announced for the game but it will be released on PC.
