Final Fantasy 7 Revelation was revealed to release on all platforms day one, which will likely be PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and Steam.
Is Final Fantasy 7 Revelation open world?
Yes, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be open world just like Rebirth. But this time, you’ll have the Highwind on your side. You can use the airship to go anywhere in the open world and drop from above using parachutes.
According to a press release, Square Enix confirmed that the entire planet is freely explorable with the Highwind. This means from the outskirts of Midgar to the Mideel archipelago, you can visit nearly every iconic spot from the original game (and possibly some new ones).

It’s unlikely that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be available on Xbox Game Pass on launch. No games in the remake series are currently on Game Pass either, so don’t expect it anytime soon.
Will combat be different in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation?
For now, combat is very similar to the previous two games in the remake series, save for a few key additions. While the hybrid battle system has made a return, you get two new party members: Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind.
Vincent Valentine
Vincent Valentine is a gunslinger who can make precise shots, with one particular move allowing him to scan for targets and shoot them all at once. Meanwhile, Vincent also has ferocious bestial transformations. This makes for some exciting melee combat, and can be enabled with a single button.
Cid Highwind
We also now have Cid, who uses a lance to sweep and stab enemies. His single-target lance strikes and his wide sweeps can change the flow of battle. Known for his potty mouth, don’t be shocked if he throws out a few curses while doing so, either.
What are the new outfits in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation?
A brand new feature for Revelation are unique outfits that can bestow new movesets on party members. For example, Tifa can wear the Black Mage outfit, which not only looks fashionable, but can teach her new abilities she never knew before.
Will the story change in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation?
For now, we don’t know how much of Final Fantasy 7’s original conclusion Revelation will change. With how the game ended in Rebirth, we can expect Aerith to make more appearances, either from across the Life Stream or in Cloud’s head.
As the entire world nears its end with Sephiroth at the helm, Cloud and friends will set off to stop Meteor and the planet’s obliteration. You can still expect slight story changes and additions like in Remake and Rebirth, but we don’t know just yet how large these changes will be.
