It is safe to say that everyone freaked out when they saw Bloodborne-style art in a Nintendo Direct. Everyone then lost it when it was confirmed that FromSoftware was developing an exclusive game for Mario’s console: The Duskbloods.
And while the excitement is still rampant thanks to uncontrollable expectations, we haven’t heard much about the vampiric PvPvE ever since its reveal. If you are waiting for the game’s release (as well as Elden Ring’s), here is everything you need to know about The Duskbloods.
What is the release date for The Duskbloods?
The Duskbloods is scheduled to be released in 2026. FromSoftware has yet to announce an exact date.
What platforms will The Duskbloods release on?
The Duskbloods will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
What price is The Duskbloods launching at?
Online listings indicate that The Duskbloods will be priced at $69.99, the current AAA standard. This, however, is yet to be confirmed.
How does The Duskbloods gameplay work?
Contrary to past FromSoftware games, The Duskbloods is not a traditional Souls game. Instead, it is an action role-playing game with player-versus-player (PVP) and player-versus-environment (PVE) gameplay, or PvPvE.
Up to eight players will choose their Bloodsworn of choice (a vampire-like character), edit their blood history to alter their traits, abilities, and in-game roles, and fight each other and monsters to get the “First Blood.” In other words, victory.
Players will then be rewarded accordingly based on their performance during matches. Victory conditions vary in each match, with some being focused on direct PVP encounters, while others might involve a more PVE approach, having Bloodsworn take down a powerful boss.
They will then be transported to the hub, where all customizations occur, ready for another blood-soaked online encounter. Rinse and repeat.
In a sense, it is similar to Elden Ring Nightreign, but judging by what little was shown and shared online, The Duskbloods appear to be a bit more competitive.
What is the plot and setting of The Duskbloods?
Hidetaka Miyazaki, in an interview with Nintendo, detailed some of The Duskblood’s lore and setting. Humanity is reaching its end and, on the verge of extinction, First Blood flows during an event known as the Twilight of Humanity.
The Bloodsworn, the aforementioned vampiric-like creatures, are summoned to compete in matches throughout various Gothic and Victorian-style maps for the First Blood. Miyazaki detailed that there is no fixed era or location for The Duskbloods.
Can The Duskbloods be played solo?
The multiplayer aspect of The Duskbloods is fully merged with its essence. While matchmaking is mandatory, Miyazaki has promised those not accustomed to PVP madness a good time thanks to the PVE aspects of the game.
