Finding the right chair for your gaming setup is one of the most important decisions to make. Sure, you’ll need all the proper hardware, but where you will physically be sitting during these gaming sessions needs to be comfortable and durable. As you’d expect, the chair doesn’t come fully built and is set up in multiple pieces in a box. The good news is that all of the pieces, screws, and even tools you’ll need to build the chair are included! Of course, if you have your own tools, you could use those as it might be a bit easier than the smaller hand-powered tools that come for use in the box. There is also an instruction booklet, but keep in mind that since their chairs are all built fairly the same way, the instruction page may not match your chair exactly but the steps to building it are the same.
Aesthetics and Build Quality

Going with the FLC style in the series, I find the chair to be very aesthetically pleasing to look at. The style of the coloring doesn’t actually give off the ‘racing’ look like the brand name would suggest they focus on and instead gives a comforting style that has the chosen color filling up where the chair will sort of hug around your body as you sit in it. Not to mention the neck and lumbar pillows match well with the easy-to-remove or add-on ability thanks to the simple straps that go around the back of the chair.
When speaking of quality, these chairs definitely have that in them. Nobody wants a chair that won’t last or that will end up fading, but that isn’t a concern with the Flash XL series. These chairs are made with E-WIN Stain Resistant 2.0 PU Leather. That means it can be cleaned without concern of wiping off the color and it can withstand general usage damages. If you keep your desk near a window, UV lighting won’t be a concern either.
The two pillows are made with high-density upholstery foam, so they don’t lose their shape easily making it so they actually give the support as they are built to provide for a longer period of time than the standard pillow. It also helps that the foam used to make up the chair itself is a cold-cure foam, so it will take longer to become hot to sit on than standard foam and leather. These aspects combined make the chair durable for long sessions, but don’t forget that it’s good to stretch every so often!
Specs and Special Features
The Flash XL series isn’t considered the heavy-duty gaming chair for no reason. This lineup of chairs is really built specifically for bigger users as the minimum height suggested is 5’7” and it goes up to a maximum height of 7’0” for their suggested users. As a guy that stands 5’10” with a wife that stands 5’5” I can confirm that she has a little trouble getting into the chair while it isn’t a problem for me, so the scale is definitely pretty accurate. What It Could Have Done Better
When it comes to building the chair, I really wish I had an instruction pamphlet that was specific to my chair. While it did help me put most of the chair together, I had trouble with the aspect of connecting the back of the chair to the base of the chair which it turned out I was just being too gentle with it. This aspect was a bit of a ridiculous conundrum that I feel a proper pamphlet for the specific chair I got could have fixed. If this is going to be your first chair ever, when you put it together you will have to push the foam in while you screw it in place - it may feel like you are being too rough with it, but just don’t overdo it and you should be fine.
Verdict
The EwinRacing Heavy Duty Gaming Chair, or simply the Flash XL series, is a very comfortable and great chair to use. Make sure you get your measurements to make sure it will fit in you before buying, but if it is a good fit then it is definitely a top choice to consider!
