Those eagerly awaiting the release of From Software's Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon are in for a treat.
A new, extended gameplay trailer from publisher Bandai Namco's official YouTube channel gives would-be mech pilots a chance to get a good look at how the game runs, and it's quite a sight to see. The video brings over thirteen glorious minutes of the upcoming game, showcasing the intro, the extensive build screen, and some of the enormous levels players will get a chance to explore when Armored Core VI launches later this month.
The game brings a great deal of freedom of movement. The mechs can run on legs, glide on tank trails, or boost across the ground with their rockets. This is before even the aerial mechanics come in, with mechs able to jet around the extensive levels for limited periods.
Players take on the role of 621, a mercenary Armored Core pilot under the supervision of the enigmatic Handler Walter. 621 is dropped onto the planet of Rubicon 3, a planet blighted by disaster and embroiled in a bitter civil war between huge corporations and a Rubiconian resistance movement.
There are as many twists, turns, and in-world storytelling as you might expect with a Fromsoft game, but arguably a more straightforward means of delivery, with lots of dialogue between the cast of characters around 621.
Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon releases August 24th, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, and PC via Steam.
