It’s always good to see games launch successfully and actually deliver to their players. Based on the scores and quotes shown off in the accolades trailer and the first-week stats for Dying Light 2 Stay Human, it definitely seems that Techland delivered with their sequel. As one of the many that reviewed this game, I certainly enjoyed my playthrough, so I would say these numbers are quite fitting.
At its peak moment this past week, Dying Light 2 was played by nearly 275,000 players simultaneously on Steam alone. That's six times more than the peak count for the original Dying Light, more than 2.5x the peak of Resident Evil Village, and puts Dying Light 2 at #23 all-time for peak Steam concurrents, among The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Destiny 2, Halo Infinite, and others. On top of that, this game already has been viewed for more than 18 million hours across Twitch and YouTube with the peak moment catching 512,000 people watching Dying Light 2 Stay Human content simultaneously!
In celebration of this amazing first week, Techland is hosting a contest on Twitter with the winner getting a powerful, customized PC (RTX 3090 FE + i9-12900k)! They also made a Twitter post about some of the hotfixes they already made and what they are planning to fix up next, but there is so much they separated the news by platform.
Now that you have seen what the critics have to say and have seen these stats, when do you plan to get in Aiden’s shoes and begin your own adventure?
