It’s no secret that the music provided for a game can very well be a make or break aspect of the game. For some games, it becomes the iconic sound that you expect when you see it or think of when you hear it while others use a mixture of subtlety and absence to build on their atmosphere. So when it comes to making a new game on a series that was once thought dead from years ago, there are a lot of aspects to consider.
Developers Lizardcube and publishers Dotemu don’t take this fact lightly and it shows how much care each aspect of Streets of Rage 4 is getting when you see how detailed the back story to just the music aspect is. From going through multiple artists, combining styles from the classics titles and newer gaming era composers, and really digging into the proper instruments to use, there are so many things to consider.
Check out the detailed video that breaks down the facts and thoughts of the official composers behind the next Streets of Rage title in this “Behind the Music” dev diary video. If this video makes you curious as to how the music is going to sound, you can check out four completed tracks on Dotemu’s official SoundCloud now! Remember, Streets of Rage 4 is set to launch sometime in Spring 2020 for the PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
