Gamers and watchers take note, the critically acclaimed spooky adventure OXENFREE is now available to Netflix subscribers to play on Android and iOS, for free.
Developed by Night School Studio and released in 2016, OXENFREE is a creepy, story-driven adventure game where the player takes the role of teenager Alex. Alex sets out to attend an overnight party on the abandoned military post of Edwards Island. Things begin to take a turn from the supernatural when the group of friends accidentally open a ghostly rift that ties into the island’s past.
The game boasts an in-depth interaction system, where the player determines Alex’s personality through the choices made in conversations with her peers, and actions on the island. Inspired by some historical events of World War 2, the game requires making contact with some of the restless spirits through a radio mechanic.
The atmosphere is topped off by voice talent from highly-respected figures in the industry, known for parts in series like Borderlands, The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead. A sequel is currently in development at Night School Studio, with release expected in 2023.
OXENFREE: Netflix Edition comes with localisation support, with subtitles in over 30 languages, including: Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Spanish (Latam), Spanish (Spain), Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.
