The DC Universe gets a little wacky this February when Birds of Prey releases in theaters, but that may be just the kind of weird that the franchise needs to reel in moviegoers. Even the name is wondrously strange—Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn.
This psycho-memoir is told by Harley herself, and Margot Robbie oozes charisma in her starring role.
Here’s what to expect in the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures film:
When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.
Margot Robbie reprises her role as Harley Quinn, but a long list of standout actors join her in this wild tale. Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Huntress; Jurnee Smollett-Bell stars as Black Canary; Rosie Perez stars as Renee Montoya; and Ella Jay Basco debuts on the silver screen as Cass.
The villains of the story are Chris Messina as the dangerous Victor Zsasz and Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis, also known as Black Mask.
What do you think? Will Birds of Prey rise above the less-than-stellar outings of previous DC films?
