Intellivision’s Tommy Tallarico talked about his vision for the up and coming Amico in a brand-new video just released to the public. The video alternates between Tallarico speaking and clips of the new gaming console that will be released on October 10, 2019.

Intellivision appears to be branding this new console as a return to simplicity, family, and casual gaming.

The video also gives glimpses of 17 exclusive Amico games of which some appear to be remakes or remasters of some timeless favorites such as missile command. Each game that will be released is exclusive to the Amico.

The console looks like it will support two players, and is slightly reminiscent of a land-line phone-base with two ports acting as charging stations. The controls each feature one multi-function button and a touch screen.

The Amico also has RFID capabilities meaning that a friend can bring a controller to another’s console and with a simple sync-up begin playing games connected with any of the given controllers in question.

The video makes a point of the fact that there are around 3 billion casual games worldwide and the Amico is geared to these people. Tallarico clearly wants to get family members and friends in one room playing games together no matter their past experience gaming.

Perhaps there is a stigma suggesting that video games are just for the young, and perhaps that is what Tallarico hopes to change. Will the return to retro and simplicity accomplish what it aims to or will the Amico be a dud in the rapidly changing landscape of video games?
