The original developers of Earthworm Jim and the Clayfighter series are putting the franchises up for sale. IGN reports Interplay released the following statement alongside the announcement they would be selling their franchises...
"With the proliferation of mobile, augmented reality, virtual reality and other new forms of consumption, we believe that consumers are ready to experience and interact with Interplay's characters, stories and gameplay in ways never possible before. We look forward to seeing how this unique portfolio of interactive entertainment icons will evolve for the worldwide audience."
I've written about both games in the past and how I would love to see each one revitalized in some way, and it looks like I could get my wish! Hopefully, whoever grabs hold of either franchise actually does something with it! I would love to hear we are getting a new Earthworm Jim game!
