After a cross-promotion campaign between the social media accounts for Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default, it seems that Square Enix is hinting that a new game is on the way. The Japanese Twitter account of Bravely Default shared a mysterious image of what looks like a fairy, with a caption that seemed to tease the existence of a new game.
The tweet in question began with a message of thanks after Octopath Traveler shipped one million units. The caption continued by stating “please look forward to the next Square Enix BD11 game.” The guys at Destructoid were able to decode BD11, which stands for Business Division 11, the section led by Tomoya Asano, the producer for multiple Final Fantasy games and the Bravely Default series.
Although Square Enix did not confirm the existence of the game yet, assuming that there is one in development, it is expected that Bravely Third (or whatever the developer decides to name the game), will be released on the Nintendo Switch, given that more developers are now transitioning their franchises from the 3DS to the hybrid console. If it’s not a full game, it is also possible that Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default will partner in a DLC or crossover event that will link the two games together.
