Partnering up with a few talented hands, Bandai Namco is kicking off the year-long celebration of PACMAN’s 40th Anniversary with a music video featuring the new theme. Created and mixed by Ken Ishii, this rendition of the PACMAN theme song is the one to expect to lead the way for this celebration event series. Both the song and the team behind his icon’s creation are inviting fans to “Join the PAC” as they begin the 2020 year.
After watching this music video they put together to kick off the celebration, I could see that they plan to keep the theme around the decade that Pac-Man began. With the musical version being a mixture of funky and electronic, the dance style is focused on in-sync movements and simplistic styling, and the overall set up of the club having a retro yet new-age feel to it, they are hitting the ‘80’s on the nose! It is both strange and awesome, but I don’t think I would want it any other way.
As a quick history lesson, Pac-Man was created on May 20, 1980, that immediately grew into an incredibly famous icon. While he started in the video game industry, he soon became a pop culture icon which continued to gain popularity to the point that the hit song “Pac-Man Fever” was created. You can get a more thorough history lesson from the website, but now it is time to look towards the future.
Even the team is looking forward to the coming year as the Senior Vice President of Sales and General Manager at BANDAI NAMCO, Chris Gilbert, stated, “2020 will be a monumental year as we celebrate PAC-MAN’s birthday all year long with ground-breaking brand partnerships, a new theme song, and engaging events around the globe.” I look forward to seeing what type of events they have planned and what all we can expect to see from this dedicated, proud, and excited team behind the industry icon character Pac-Man.
