After all the anticipation and wonderment that went into what Kojima was going to create next with his team over at Kojima Productions, we finally get our answer at The Game Awards 2022. With the usual surprise announcement, they unveiled their next game is going to be a sequel title; Death Stranding 2. Now, it does say “working title” on the trailer, so this title might change in the future, but here is their official reveal.
Given the confusing original title Death Stranding, I have to say that a sequel to this game was far from what I was expecting. In fact, based on the reaction of some of our friends in the Beer League Discord that we watched the live show, this was a surprising choice to many fans of Kojima’s work. But there is hope that with a sequel title comes more definitive answers that can give us more insight into the strange lore within this odd, dystopian world.
Death Stranding 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, but it is going to be another exclusive planned to launch only on the PlayStation 5. From the trailer alone, it seems it takes place a few years after the first game and will feature both new and returning stars, including Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, Elle Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Troy Baker. How do you feel about the reveal of a sequel title to the strange original from Kojima Productions?
