League of Legends Season 2 Act 2: Spirit Blossom Map, Yunara, and New Meta-Games Revealed

Riot Games has released a new Dev Update video (at the bottom of the article) detailing what players can expect in Season 2 Act 2 of League of Legends. Developers Paul "Pabro" Bellezza, Brett “Frost” Freeman, Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, and Drew “justacapybara” Levin outlined a mix of gameplay updates, new content, and system improvements.

Spirit Blossom Arrives in ARAM

This Act brings a seasonal refresh to ARAM with the introduction of Koeshin’s Crossing, a new map inspired by the Spirit Blossom event. It will rotate alongside Butcher’s Bridge and the classic Howling Abyss, with each map offering subtle gameplay changes to keep matches varied without disrupting the core ARAM experience.

Riot is also testing a new Champion Card system. Instead of just rerolling, players will choose between two champion options. The one they don’t select will go to the bench, allowing others on the team to use it if they choose.

Yunara Joins the Champion Roster

A new champion, Yunara, is set to join the roster soon. She’s a more traditional auto-attack-focused ADC, aimed at players who enjoy a straightforward marksman playstyle.

To go along with her release, Riot is launching a 2.5D side-scrolling beat-em-up mini-game featuring Yunara and Xin Zhao. This separate experience is entirely self-contained and doesn’t require any League gameplay to progress.

Riot is also introducing a new meta-game system, described as a spiritual successor to Spirit Bonds, where players can interact with in-universe spirits and unlock content through regular League matches.

Player Behavior Systems Get Stricter

The player behavior detection system, which was initially rolled out cautiously, has now reached a reported 99.95% accuracy rate. As a result, Riot will begin implementing stricter punishments for disruptive behavior—especially in Ranked queues.

New measures include placing repeat offenders into separate Ranked-only queues and continuing to refine the system to catch griefing tactics involving abilities like Anivia’s wall or Trundle’s pillar. Riot is also considering a feature to automatically end games when extreme disruption is detected.

Updates to the Honor system are also underway, with changes focused on aligning recognition more closely with player expectations.

MSI and Viktor Skin Update

The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) kicks off on June 27, and this year will include Pick Ems for the first time. In addition, skins used by the winning team during the MSI Finals will go on sale the following week.

Lastly, in response to community requests, Riot confirmed that a throwback-style Viktor skin is currently in development and expected to launch later this year.

With new maps, a champion, experimental side modes, and quality-of-life improvements, Act 2 is aiming to build on what players enjoy while also trying out new ideas.
