Every PC gamer needs a good mouse that offers comfortability and versatility for every situation. But what happens when you’ve been playing for a while and your hand starts to sweat?

Well, gaming company Marsback found the solution to this with their Zephyr gaming mouse a year ago. After hearing the feedback from consumers, they developed the next incarnation of that, the Zephyr Pro, which improves upon just about every aspect of its processor.

After having used the Zephyr Pro mouse for quite some time now, I have to say, it’ll be hard to switch to another anytime soon.

What’s In The Box

I have to admit, Marsback has one of the coolest-looking boxes that I’ve seen so far. The box itself is a tall narrow little thing with a great art style featuring shapes reminiscent of the mouse itself. It slides apart in two pieces revealing the main attraction.

Once inside, there isn’t too much going on. You got the Zephyr Pro mouse, a manual, some stickers, and an introduction card to Marsback. I like that its outer appearance is stylish and that they kept it simple on the inside.

Aesthetics and Build Quality

Right out of the box, the Zephyr Pro is an extremely attractive mouse. The architecture of it is awesome and is made even better by just how bright and colorful its RGB lights are. It’s an ambidextrous mouse so it’s a pretty symmetrical design aside from the two side buttons on the left.

Marsback does have some of their own logos and symbols placed on the mouse but they do it in tasteful ways that doesn’t make it look like an advertisement. It’s something that I prefer in my peripherals so it pleased me to see.

Because the Zephyr Pro has a sort of open-backed shell to it to utilize the fan inside, you are able to see the internals of it all. With that being said, it doesn’t detract from the overall look of the mouse at all as it’s pretty cool to see the fan at work as the lights bend around it.

Besides the normal buttons on the side of it, the left and right clickers, DPI button on top, and the scroll wheel/button, there are some buttons underneath that have their own functions as well. There’s a light button and a fan button. They each work as you’d expect, the light button is used to cycle through the mouse’s 7 choices and the fan button which can turn the fan on/off.

The build, while being mostly hollow is extremely durable and wouldn’t budge at all when I tried my best to squeeze it.

Gameplay

Working with the mouse is just as responsive as I would’ve liked. I appreciate the fact that there are so many preset DPI choices and the fan actually helped to keep my palm cooled. Because of the mouse’s ergonomic design, it’s incredibly comfortable to use and its weight is one of my favorite aspects.

While the cable is braided, it isn’t a heavy material you may be used to. It reminds me more of a soft shoelace. Because of that, it makes it extremely easy to move around a mousepad and doesn’t get caught on the end of the desk.

All of the buttons are clicky and very responsive. I used the Zephyr Pro for both work and gaming and was very satisfied in both areas of use. Because of its versatility, this is a mouse you could definitely use in your everyday lifestyle.

Marsback also offers some software to download for you to take further advantage of the Zephyr Pro. It allows you to save different profiles for the many different things it lets you choose from in its settings.

You can remap any of the mouse’s 6 buttons, change things like DPI, polling rate, lighting, and even macros. It’s a nice added feature that hardcore PC gamers are going to want to mess around with in order to find their sweet spot.

I found the mouse at my favorable settings straight out of the box though. I used it for FPS games and my aim was extremely accurate. I felt comfortable with it from my first match on.

While there is a slight vibration in the mouse due to the fan, I never had an issue with it on a mousepad. It’s only when you hold it up does it slightly vibrate and it’s not noisy in the slightest. These new improvements have definitely paid off.

What It Could Have Done Better

My main critique about the Zephyr Pro is that the fan seems like it could be stronger. I like the fact that it’s there and while it accomplished keeping my hand sweat-free, I would’ve enjoyed it to have been more noticeable. My other critique is that the cable underneath the braid feels very thin and I’m not sure how this could get damaged over time or split apart.

Verdict

The Zephyr Pro is a new and enhanced version of what Marsback tried to do the first time around and I think that they knocked it out if the park. While you may think that $69.99 might be a bit much, this does include all of the bells and whistles from any other mouse at this price point plus a fan to keep you in the action at all times.

The fact that this mouse looks so good and performs so well definitely sold me on it. While I wish that the fan was slightly stronger, this is a really great product that I loved to use. It’s also the greatest-looking mouse I’ve ever seen. If you’re in the market for a new gaming mouse, you have to give this thing a try.
