Launching their game successfully last year on PC, developer Rootless Studio and publisher NEOWIZ have ported their Metroidvania title 8Doors: Arum’s Afterlife Adventure to the Nintendo Switch. They don’t plan to stop here either. Next, they are looking to bring their game to the PlayStation and Xbox platforms as well.
This story-rich adventure game, that’s based on the Korean myth of “Princess Bari,” follows ‘Arum’ as she ventures deep into the afterlife in search of her father’s soul. Along the way she’ll have to navigate a treacherous path through purgatory which is beautifully presented in just three colors; Red, White and Black. This journey features a sprawling map that has 8 distinct regions, one for each “Door of Purgatory,” and a wide range of monsters and bosses that bring Korean folktales to life. Arum can also wield 7 different weapons and utilize a multitude of skills to help her fend off the 36 different types of specters that she’ll encounter on the journey.
Along with this new platform release, they have partnered with Red Art Games and VideoGamePlus to release a physical edition of 8Doors for the Nintendo Switch. If you’re interested in getting your own hard copy of the game, you can pre-order it here if you are in the EU region and here if you are in the NA region. When they release the game on PlayStation, they will work with these same teams to get a physical edition setup as well.
8Doors: Arum’s Afterlife Adventure is now available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, Epic Games, and GOG.
