Narcos, the popular Netflix Original will be getting its very own video game adaptation soon. Curve Digital struck a deal with the show’s producer, Gaumont, and announced the plans to develop a game based on the popular show. It is currently slated for a release next year and will be coming to PC and consoles
Kuju, Curve Digital’s sister company will be taking the lead in the development of the game and studio head Brynley Gibson said in the announcement that:
“We’re looking forward to creating a game that matches the fantastic storyline and gritty action of the Netflix series. We’re tremendously excited and have some amazing gameplay elements in the works that will please both fans of the show and gamers.”
Furthermore, Curve Digital’s MD, Jason Perkins also said that: “Narcos is a fantastic license for us to work with. This critically acclaimed show from Gaumot lends itself perfectly to a video game execution and we’re excited and proud to be bringing this to market.”
Narcos the show revolves around the infamous Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, his family, and his massive cocaine empire. Given that the show has a massive fanbase, and an interesting story, I can definitely see a video game there. Furthermore, not much details were released on how faithful the video game adaptation will be, however, I think that the developers have a wiggle room to bring in their own flare on this adaptation.
