Last month at The Game Awards we heard about the awesome new crossover between Motion Twin’s Dead Cells and Konami’s classic Castlevania. If you missed it, fans of both games will be thrilled to know that a new DLC, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, is on its way. The collaboration between Motion Twin and their spin-off sister studio Evil Empire is set to be the biggest DLC for Dead Cells to date and is sure to get the blood pumping for fans of both franchises.
A teaser trailer for the DLC was released yesterday January 19th, giving fans a sneak peek at the haunted hallways of Dracula's castle and other spooky areas that they will be able to explore. The trailer also gives a glimpse of some of the formidable enemies that players will encounter, such as deadly werewolves and haunted armors.
Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania will feature two new biomes to explore, 14 iconic weapons, including Castlevania favorites such as the Vampire Killer, Throwing Axe, Holy Water, as well as a host of undead enemies to defeat. Each of the classic Castlevania weapons has been tweaked to reflect the fast-paced, frantic style of combat in Dead Cells, in order to create an exciting and challenging experience.
In addition to the new gameplay, Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania will also feature an intriguing new storyline. The Beheaded will be approached by the famous Richter Belmont following the appearance of a strange, malevolent castle. Drawn by the promise of new loot, players will need to harness their undead fighting skills to defeat the evil within. The DLC will also feature an alternative soundtrack, including 51 original Castlevania tunes as well as 12 iconic tracks that have been reimagined in the style of Dead Cells.
Dead Cells is available on PC via Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS. Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania will be available soon on PC and consoles.
