Today during a live stream reveal, Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios revealed the latest numbered addition to a much-loved series. Age of Wonders 4 brings the series back to its fantasy roots for the first time in 9 years, with new levels of customization and replayability.
Age of Wonders 4 will allow players to rule a fantasy realm of their design, blending strategy, role-playing, and tactical turn-based combat. Utilizing Tomes of Magic to cast spells and evolve their armies into new forms, players will be able to create their own custom factions and leave their own unique mark on countless worlds through each of their choices. A new event system will also provide unexpected levels of storytelling that allow players to see how their decisions influence the world around them, through changing allegiances and mystical powers. The factions that you develop may also return as potential allies or rivals in later games, creating an almost long-term narrative that each player develops.
With all this customization, there is also the ability to create your own worlds to battle across, with a huge variety of environments, units, and empires to keep the game endlessly replayable. Age of Wonders 4 seeks to be the most open-ended game of the series, and will also be highly mod-friendly for ever more customization and community storytelling.
Age of Wonders 4 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Check out the announcement trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
