New Super Lucky’s Tale charmed 3D platformer fans when it launched back in 2020, updating 2017’s original game — simply titled Super Lucky’s Tale — with improvements to the camera, level design, and more. Half a decade later, Lucky is getting yet another upgrade with the new PS5 version of New Super Lucky’s Tale, which offers some console-specific boons that make it even more appealing than ever.

How much is the New Super Lucky’s Tale PS5 upgrade?
There are two ways to get your hands on the PS5 version of New Super Lucky’s Tale, depending on whether or not you already own the game on PS4. As expected, there’s a notable price difference between the two methods.
If you don’t already own New Super Lucky’s Tale, the game costs $29.99 and is available either physically or via the PlayStation Store.
If you do already own New Super Lucky’s Tale on PS4, you can upgrade to the PS5 version for $4.99 via the PlayStation Store.
Is the New Super Lucky’s Tale PS5 version worth the upgrade?
New Super Lucky’s Tale ranks among my favorite platformers, largely due to its commitment to being refreshingly straightforward. It’s a game that really knows what it is and doesn’t get bogged down in any grander ambitions, harkening back to a simpler time in the genre — and it’s all the better for it. This is just an unapologetically upbeat romp through a whimsical world filled with lovable characters; it’s absolutely delightful from beginning to end.
With all of that being said, if you have a 4K TV that outputs up to 120fps, I’d argue it’s worth the five bucks just for those extra frames. Platformers live and die by their feel and responsiveness, after all. But even if it’s your first time playing — meaning you’d have to dish out $30 — I’d still recommend it just as enthusiastically. It really is a lovely 3D platforming experience.
If you’re interested in playing the game on another platform, New Super Lucky’s Tale is also available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
