The retro gaming world will always have fans looking to find new ways to enjoy classic titles and styles. Lucky for this fan base, there are always new companies finding ways to bring these classics back in new, modern ways as both functioning titles and collectibles. One of these companies is New Wave Toys and they have been putting together a lineup of items that are worth checking out.
While we recently reviewed their 1942 X RepliCade, which end up concluding that it is better as a collectible than a functioning game cabinet, there are a bunch of reviews raving about their products. Their stock for game cabinets alone includes 1942, 1943, Asteroids, Dragon’s Lair, Street Fighter II, Tempest, and Centipede. They still have more to announce and I have confirmed that the next cabinet will be Q*bert! Along with functioning cabinets they also have functioning mini-controllers that match the classic styles for Street Fighter and 1942.
Aside from playable collectibles, they have aesthetic-focused items as well. This includes things like the classic UV Base Pad featuring a classic arcade staple floor design pattern, M90 - mini boombox, a Dragon’s Lair themed puzzle, an Insert Coin keychain, and so much more. The main featured items for these collectibles are the two items that have functionality that anybody would find useful. These two items are the Hotline 16000 power bank (in pink, black, or blue) and a USB charge machine that resembles a classic change machine (in blue and red).
If you are looking to grow your collection or know someone who would love some retro-themed gifts this holiday, then take a visit to the New Wave Toys website and see if anything catches your attention.
