For weeks now some Pokémon GO users have been trying to find ways to circumvent leaving their house to play Pokémon GO. While some have tried very creative ways to do this, like fastening their phone to a drone, many others have been taking advantage of bot software to cheat the system via GPS spoofing, which essentially tricks the game into thinking you’re going places when you’re not. This allows bot users to level insanely fast and take over gyms by using overpowered Pokémon, which kind of ruins the experience for legitimate players.
Luckily, Niantic has decided to put an end to this and has started issuing permanent bans to anyone suspected of cheating. Here’s their official statement:
Niantic does urge users who believe their account has been terminated incorrectly to report it to the Pokémon GO Help Center.
