Square Enix has announced that the new addition to the Valkyrie Profile series has officially made the jump to PC, after releasing on Playstation platforms back in September. Developed by Soleil, Valkyrie Elysium is a departure from previous entries in the mainline series. It defines itself as an action RPG and takes this seriously, with real-time hacking and slashing making up the combat this time around.
While the new take on the series’ gameplay marks a large change in direction, it’s not all unfamiliar. With music from Valkyrie Profile series veteran Motoi Sakuraba, players won't find it that far removed from the series' heart.
Valkyrie Elysium puts the player in the shoes of a young valkyrie working on behalf of the All-Father, Odin. She must try and use her abilities to avert Ragnarok, the end of days.
The release comes with a few new updates for both PC and console users. Two new game modes, Hilde’s Vengeance and Seraphic Gate bring new experiences for those who have already gotten through the main game. Two additional difficulty modes, 'very hard' and 'valkyrie' bring an extra challenge to anyone needing greater odds to face.
Valkyrie Elysium is available on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and PC via Steam.
