Intro and Gameplay
I’ve been playing ORCS MUST DIE! since the original. It’s mind-boggling to think it’s been almost 14 years since the original title was released and all the ups and downs since then, including the Stadia release among others. Well, it’s 2025 baby and we are ready to burn, maim, launch, and chop those orcs right down into the juicy bits!
While the gameplay for Deathtrap isn’t a revolutionary change it’s definitely an evolutionary change and ratchets up the difficulty with some huge levels and downright diabolical paths to set your traps and defend like a true battlemage would. The character design has some amazing voice bits, skills, etc but a bit too dated IMHO. Other than that, this is a beautiful and action packed romp for anyone who loves tower defense style games.
Graphics and Sound
This game is definitely a looker despite its cartoony appearance and light-hearted humor. Hope you are bringing a beefy rig on PC if you want to make out those graphics and it’s quite demanding but luckily DLSS helps and still looks amazing.
The sound is a huge highlight of the game with the quips from your character range from funny to absolutely hilarious. The music and sound effects are solid as well but the personalities of the playable characters and their one-liners are the stars of the show
Feedback and Verdict
As I mentioned, I think some of the character designs in this episode are downright ugly but their personalities and voice actors definitely make it less painful. Also, some of the levels are way too big and complex, even in the beginning, for this genre.
Other than that, the folks at Robot just keeping making amazing Orcs games and this is a good one for sure. If you are just starting out, I’d recommended hitting up the earlier games in the series first. LET’S BLAST SOME ORCS!
